Lego NXT Robotics "Challenges" Level 1*
Students learn how to build and program the amazing LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT robot. They use their new skills to meet challenges such as battling in Robot Sumo, penny-pitching, navigating a maze and knocking out bottles. Other projects include crash test dummies, wall-huggers, and claw attachments. This class will introduce programming concepts such as repeat loops, if/then statements, and the use of the external inputs such as touch and light sensors. Logic, technology and creativity are combined to provide hours of learning fun! Both beginners and students with knowledge of LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT can take this class. This class is at the same level as Lego NXT Robotics "Life Forms" - either one can be taken first.

Lego NXT Robotics "Life Forms" Level 1*
Students learn how to build and program the LEGO® Mindstorms NXT robots to emulate real life movements such as scuttling, performing stunts, playing tag and sweeping the floor. The bumper bots and battle bots stimulate the student’s imagination for real life behavior in robotics. This class teaches the common programming blocks, and dual-switch programming. Creative robot construction, team-oriented challenges, variations of input sensors will stimulate your child’s creativity. Both beginners and students with knowledge of LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT can take this class. This class is at the same level as Lego NXT Robotics "Challenges" - either one can be taken first.

Lego NXT Robotics "Advanced Challenges" Level 2*
Prerequisite: Experience with LEGO® NXT Robots
This curriculum takes the students further along the path of technological excellence by introducing new concepts, such as Bluetooth-based programming. This class is more thought provoking with an emphasis on creative problem solving. Students will be involved in the programming and construction of more elaborate robot configuration such as roller coaster, racing rampages, spin art, etch-a-sketch, as well as machines with repetitive tasks, and speed and precision.

Robotics Programming using ROBOTC - Level 1*
Prerequisite: Experience with LEGO® NXT Robots
ROBOTC is a text-based programming language based on the standard C programming language. Students will learn ROBOTC syntax rules and the ROBOTC interface to program sensing and movement by the NXT robot. Daily challenges given to students including maneuvering their robot through a labryinth, an obstacle course and a minefield.

Robotics Programming using ROBOTC - Level 2*
Prerequisite: Experience with LEGO® NXT Robots
Students will focus on using variables, functions and remote control to program more "intelligent" robots for more complex challenges like "The Tabletop Challenge" (not falling off the edge of the table), "The Bocce Challenge" (getting as close to a target as possible without touching it), "The Sumo Challenge" (pushing 3 soda cans out of the ring) and "The Soccer Challenge" (design robots to play soccer). This is a great class to hone problem-solving, logic and reasoning skills.

All classes are week-long, Monday through Friday. Each day, students are in a class for 90 minutes, then take a 30-minute break and return to the same class for 90 minutes. If a student is partipating half-day, the student will take one class, either in the morning OR in the afternoon. If a student is participating full-day, the student will take one class in the morning and one class in the afternoon. Please go to "Schedules" to find when specific classes are offered by location.

*Students will not be able to take robots home.  Use of all hardware and software during class are included in program fee.
